About BirdworxBrinkley

Birdworx is a collection of creative endeavors designed by me, Robin Schneiderman.  Nicknamed "Birdie" many, many years ago, in the early 1980's "Bird Works" was the first line of dolls and doll clothes I developed. When written in a hurry it seemed the "k" & "s" looked more like an "x" and then the logical choice was to make it into one word.

Over the years, my skills and designs expanded to include so many creative areas in addition to sewing that includes desk top publishing, machine embroidery, vinyl cutting, paper crafting, etc.

I opened the Alteration Station in my hometown in 2005 with a friend.  We did alterations and custom sewing in a two room shop for a year, quickly outgrowing our space.  We doubled our space the second year and added an employee who specialized in Bridal alterations. By the summer of the third year there were 5 of us sewing.  During this time, we expanded to include custom embroidery, vinyl signs and decals and assorted hand-made items including jewelry.  In September of 2007 I assumed full ownership of the corporation and within a few months opened "Rags to Riches" a consignment and resale shop at the same location. In addition to all of our other services we decided to go "gobal" and start ecommerce in July of 2008.
